They also do weird things. The bee walked slowly across that wood shelf in our outside shed area until it got to the very end and then flew away. I've never seen a bee walk slowly. Don't bees usually busily scurry around flowers and fly from one thing to another rather than walk / crawl? And the cockroaches here use a jump/fly method as their surprise tactic against humans trying to catch them. Caught both Peter and me completely by surprise! Peter tried using a normal plastic cup (from the US so bigger than Japanese ones) to catch it but it was too small and after a few tries, it eventually got away. We now have a huge Spring Creek BBQ cup (think Texas size) ready on the windowsill for when it next appears - hopefully never! Completely freaked me out last night!!!
On our shopping list: cockroach killing things!!!
Apparently once spring comes, we'll be dealing with centipede-looking things which come into the house and are POISONOUS - eek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This reminds me of Hawaii. Whenever you get out of bed, you gotta have a light, because you never know what you'll step on! So keeping a flashlight and a big shoe by the bedside can be quite handy!
ReplyDeleteUgh! Hopefully they'll never get into our bedroom (wishful thinking?)!
