Prayer Partner Progress
We now have nearly 155 prayer partners! Our goal is to have 365 prayer partners, one for each day of the year. Please let us know if you would like to commit to praying for us at least one day of the year by emailing us at peterandjennyoh@gmail.com.
Monthly Support at 39%!
Praise God! During the past month, our monthly support has increased from 29% to 39%! Along with our two supporting churches, New Vision Church and Santa Clara Valley Japanese Christian Church, we have 28 individuals supporting us between $10-$300 on a monthly basis (annual donations we received were averaged out over 12 months). Thank you for taking part in making a difference in the lives of those in Hiroshima, Japan through your generous giving.
New Target Departure Date
Many of you who have been tracking with us since earlier this year are probably wondering, "Didn't Peter and Jenny say they were going to Japan in September?" Well, September was indeed our target departure date, but we're still here. =(
We wish we could give you a definite departure date, but we don't know exactly when we'll be going to Japan. Pioneers won't authorize our departure until our Monthly Support reaches 90%, and we are currently at 39%. We hoped to have been able to have departed by now, but once again God demonstrates that our thoughts are not His thoughts, our ways are not His ways, nor is our timing His timing. We are setting a new target date for early March 2010, but again, it's ultimately in God's hands when we go.
When we reach 70-75% of our Monthly support, hopefully by the end of this year, we'll apply for our religious visas, and we heard the whole process could take 2-3 months.
Thank you for journeying and partnering with us! We so long to be in Hiroshima, Japan! We know that God has a purpose for us still being here and that He WILL send us, in His perfect time.
Bike-a-Thon Finale
What a blessing the Bike-a-Thon was for us as well as for our church and the SVMC members. We celebrated the success of the Bike-a-Thon during Jenny's mom's special VIP cell group meeting where we honored Mr. Stephen Lee 이원세 집사님 and his SVMC biker friends for their contribution in raising nearly 34% of our Departure Fund. The Bike-a-Thon was particularly special because most of the SVMC members are not church-goers, and still generously helped in this endeavor to make a difference in Japan through this fundraiser. Peter was able to pray for them over the phone on the morning of their departure, but we weren't able to meet them face to face until now. We finally had the privilege of meeting and getting to know the bikers at this special VIP cell group meeting. Read more here...
Family Retreat
Three families living under one roof can get a bit stressful, so we decided to take a short family retreat in order to rest, relax and reflect on this past year's journey God has taken us through. One of our Pathway Bible Fellowship family members generously offered her family's vacation home in beautiful Pebble Beach, and we gratefully accepted. We tasted several sample sized varieties of clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf, enjoyed sitting and playing on the white sandy beach of Carmel, and found a great children's park called Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey where they had huge slides, jungle gyms for various ages, and a suspension bridge that swayed with every step.
Although we had a lot of fun and rest, we wanted to spend some time prayerfully considering a big change for our family... whether or not to move to Dallas, Texas. Read more about our Family Retreat here...
We're moving to Dallas, TX
Moving to Dallas, Texas never entered our minds until just a couple of weeks ago. Jenny's sister Jade half-jokingly texted Jenny about a job opening at the preschool where Jade works. We never considered it before, but this opportunity prompted us to really consider moving to Dallas... not permanantly, but for a few months until we depart for Japan. We don't know exactly why God wants us to be in Dallas for the time being, but we sense Him leading us in this direction, possibly for us to continue our partnership development in Texas before we depart for Japan. Our target date to go is the end of October or the first week of November and we will be driving through SoCal on our way there.
